Visit Harlech

Harlech Seaside Town

Harlech is perfectly positioned in the heart of Snowdonia National Park. The town itself is relatively small by area but huge in terms of what it has to offer. From charming cottages, quirky shops, and a large arts and crafts scene, when you visit Harlech, you’ll experience an idyllic Welsh seaside town.

Harlech Castle, Wales

Harlech Castle

One of the town’s most famous landmarks is its majestic castle. Harlech Castle stands tall proudly watching over Harlech beach; the way the castle promptly protrudes from its hill, you could think it had erupted from the ground. This impressive, medieval castle is a Grade 1 listed building and a UNESCO world heritage site. But it’s not just its imposing looks that makes Harlech Castle special. A place of great battles and sieges, including the War of the Roses, this daunting castle is steeped in rich Welsh history. It’s also where the alternative Welsh national anthem, Men of Harlech, comes from! As far as Welsh castles go, the formidable Harlech Castle comes in as one of the top to visit in the country.

Golfing

There are other incredible sights to be enjoyed in Harlech too. The Royal St David’s Golf Club is unlike any other golf course you’ve teed off on before. Ranked in the Top 50 British golf courses, you can play your round of golf surrounded by some of the most breath-taking views in Wales. The unrivalled setting of this club has played host to multiple championships over the course of a century and continues to impress international visitors and locals year on year.

Llanfair Slate Caverns and Children’s Pet Farm

If adventuring is your favourite holiday activity, then you’ll love a day out at the Llanfair Slate Caverns. You’ll traverse down to the mine and explore the slate that is among some of the oldest in the world. Lit only by candlelight, the tunnels at Llanfair Slate Caverns make for an exciting exploration under the mountains. You’ll emerge from the caves to the sublime view of Cardigan Bay and the Preseli mountains, and you will even be able to see out to Shell Island too.
